Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - Water Resources Management Experts Project

This project is aimed at capacity development of water resources management in WRA through enhancement of surface water monitoring. With the introduction of telemetric and logger technologies in the Tana basin, the Authority has significantly improved its hydro-meteorological monitoring network (over 80% completed) Monitoring stations have been established and rehabilitated (SW, GW, WQ) thereby enhancing data quality and integrity. The Authority and WRUAs have benefited through a rehabilitated and improved monitoring network for ground and surface water. Data collection, storage and analysis capabilities have also been improved. Communication with stakeholders and clients on water resource status has been enhanced through an improved website and data sharing platform has enhanced communication with stakeholders and clients on water resource status. The financial management of water use levies and the linkage between permitting, billing, and enforcement have been strengthened.
